Set up DISCORDsimple with Claude
This guide walks you through everything from creating your account to adding DISCORDsimple to Claude Code. Most people are up and running in a few minutes.
On this page
1. Create your account and choose a plan
Head to account.ccmssolutions.com and create your account. Choose the plan that fits:
- Free: 1 Discord server, 2 channels, text posts, 50 actions per month, at no cost.
- Pro: $9/month for up to 10 servers, unlimited channels, rich embeds, full message reading, and 5,000 actions per month.
Your account portal is where you manage your plan and billing, and where you create the API key you will use in step 2.

2. Get your API key
Claude authenticates to DISCORDsimple with an API key from your account.
- Sign in at account.ccmssolutions.com and open API Keys.
- Find DiscordSimple under Connections and click Show connection key (the button reads Reset connection key if you already have one).
- Copy the key. It starts with
csk_and is shown only once; we store just a secure hash, so it cannot be displayed again.
Treat the key like a password. If it is ever exposed, revoke it on the same page and generate a new one; the old key stops working immediately. Resetting your key also replaces the previous one, so update your environment variable afterward.
3. Add the bot to your Discord server and choose channels
Now tell DISCORDsimple which server, and which channels, Claude may post to. Sign in to the connector at discordsimple-mcp.ccmssolutions.com with the same email you used for your account.
- Choose Connect a Discord server. You are sent to Discord’s own authorization screen to install the DISCORDsimple bot on a server you manage.
- Open Manage channels, pick the text channels Claude may post to, and give each a short alias (for example “announcements”).
The bot only sees the channels you grant it, and it needs View Channel and Send Messages in each one. Free allows 1 server and 2 channels; Pro allows up to 10 servers and unlimited channels.
4. Install the plugin in Claude Code
DISCORDsimple is delivered to Claude Code as a plugin from the DISCORDsimple marketplace. In Claude Code, run:
/plugin marketplace add ccms-inc/discordsimple-marketplace
/plugin install discordsimple-connector@ccms-hosting
The plugin contains no secrets. It simply points Claude Code at the DISCORDsimple endpoint and reads your key from your environment.
5. Connect: set your endpoint and key
The plugin reads two environment variables. Set them in the environment Claude Code runs in:
DISCORDSIMPLE_MCP_URL:https://discordsimple-mcp.ccmssolutions.com/mcp(note the/mcppath)DISCORDSIMPLE_CONNECTOR_KEY: yourcsk_...key from step 2
# macOS / Linux (add to your shell profile)
export DISCORDSIMPLE_MCP_URL="https://discordsimple-mcp.ccmssolutions.com/mcp"
export DISCORDSIMPLE_CONNECTOR_KEY="csk_your-key-here"
# Windows PowerShell (persists for your user)
setx DISCORDSIMPLE_MCP_URL "https://discordsimple-mcp.ccmssolutions.com/mcp"
setx DISCORDSIMPLE_CONNECTOR_KEY "csk_your-key-here"
Restart Claude Code so the plugin picks up the values, then ask Claude: “List my Discord channels.” It should return the channel aliases you chose in step 3.
If Claude reports an authentication error, confirm the key is active under API Keys and that your subscription is current. A 404 usually means the URL is missing the /mcp path (the host root is the sign-in app, not the connector).
Using another MCP client
DISCORDsimple is a standard remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP), so it also works with any MCP client that can send an Authorization: Bearer header. Point the client at https://discordsimple-mcp.ccmssolutions.com/mcp and send your key as Authorization: Bearer csk_....
Note: the custom-connector flows in the Claude Desktop and claude.ai apps expect an OAuth sign-in, which DISCORDsimple does not offer yet, so pasting a key there will not connect. Use Claude Code with the plugin above.
Plans, limits, and what counts as an action
An action is one tool call Claude makes through DISCORDsimple. Listing your channels, reading messages, and posting a message each count as one action; setting up and signing in do not. Your plan sets how many actions you get per month:
- Free: 50 actions per month, 1 server, 2 channels, text posts.
- Pro ($9/month): 5,000 actions per month, up to 10 servers, unlimited channels, rich embeds, full message reading.
Limits are enforced on the server for every request. You can see your current usage in the connector at discordsimple-mcp.ccmssolutions.com, and manage or upgrade your plan at account.ccmssolutions.com.
Security and privacy
- The bot only sees the channels you grant it, and you choose them one by one.
- Posts are mention-safe: Claude can never ping @everyone, @here, or roles.
- Your API key is stored only as a SHA-256 hash and is sent as a Bearer header, never in a URL.
- The Discord bot token stays on CCMS servers; it is never placed in the plugin or sent to Anthropic.
- Message content returned by
read_messagesis flagged untrusted to the AI.
